Diving the Rainbow Warrior

rainbow warrior wreck in new zealand
The Rainbow Warrior is now an underwater ecosystem.

Diving enthusiast won't want to miss the chance to explore one of the world's most famous wrecks.

Greenpeace's flagship Rainbow Warrior was blown up by French Secret Service agents in Auckland Harbour in July 1985 and has since been laid to rest on the ocean floor in Cavalli Islands just off Matauri Bay in New Zealand's North Island.

Fittingly, the boat has become an ecosystem unto itself, blossoming into an artificial reef that is home to colourful anemones and schools of John Dory, snapper and kingfish.
