Where to go in Austria

Salzburg

Although it was the birthplace of Mozart, these days Salzburg has more kitsch musical connotations, being the city where The Sound of Music was filmed.

Fans of the film (and lets face it, who isn't a fan?) flock to Salzburg to see first-hand the many locations where Julie Andrews warbled and twirled.

Hollywood cheese aside, Salzburg boasts many lovely historical buildings and gorgeous surrounding scenery.

Vienna

Vienna is the capital of Austria and something of an architectural and cultural utopia.

The city's inner core is encircled by the Danube Canal. The Ringstrasse is the heart of the city and where you will find the majority of Vienna's attractions including St Stephen's Cathedral, built in 1258.
